Antsomi CDP 365 Manual for Beginners | Top 3 Worst Mistakes

Introduction

Hello to all marketing professionals new to Antsomi CDP 365! This manual aims to prevent those "good intentions gone wrong" scenarios by explaining the top 3 common operational mistakes made by beginners in Antsomi CDP 365 and how to prevent them. Read this document to ensure a smooth and successful initial experience. Antsomi CDP 365 is a powerful tool designed to transform your business into a data-driven enterprise.

1. Deploying to Production Without Testing

"Good intentions gone wrong" failure:

If you deploy a campaign directly to a customer segment without testing—perhaps due to time constraints or believing the setup is simple—you risk sending emails with unintended content or delivering them to the wrong targets. This not only damages the customer experience and brand image but can also lead to wasted marketing budget.

Why it's the #1 worst mistake:

The primary goal of Antsomi CDP 365 is to leverage customer data to deliver personalized, omnichannel customer experiences at scale. Failing to test risks turning this "personalization" into a source of customer dissatisfaction.

Prevention: Always run a test journey.

How to test an email campaign:

  • 1️⃣
Select the journey you created and choose "Create copy" from the top right.
    Create copy of journey
  • 2️⃣
Rename the test journey. For example, add "[TEST]" to the beginning.
  • 3️⃣
Modify the trigger settings. Set the trigger time to "Right after the journey activated" and select a segment of internal test members as "Included audiences."
  • 4️⃣
Save the test journey and "Activate" it.
    Activate journey
  • 5️⃣
Confirm that the test ran successfully and that the email content was delivered correctly. Also, verify that you received the test email yourself.

2. Incorrect Segment Conditions

"Good intentions gone wrong" failure:

Incorrectly setting customer segment conditions can lead to messages being sent to customers who shouldn't be targeted, or conversely, missing customers who should be. For instance, if you make a mistake in the segment conditions for "sending a promotional email during the birthday month," customers who are not celebrating their birthday might receive an "Happy Birthday!" email. This can erode customer trust.

Why it's the #2 worst mistake:

Antsomi CDP 365 integrates online and offline customer data to build a 360-degree customer view, enabling personalization tailored to each individual. Errors in segment conditions undermine the very foundation of personalization, which relies on leveraging this 360-degree customer view.

Prevention: Carefully set segment conditions and utilize simulations.

How to create a segment:

Navigate to the "Profiles" module. Then select "Segments."

Navigate to Segments

Create a new segment by clicking on the "+" button.

Key points for segment settings:

  • 1️⃣
Select the appropriate option between "Customer segment" or "Visitor segment."
    Select segment type
    • "Visitors" are users anonymously tracked by cookies.
    • "Customers" are identified users with an email address or phone number.
  • 2️⃣
Set the segment update frequency appropriately ("Static segment" or "Dynamic segment").
    Select segment frequency
    • Static segments are fixed lists of contacts whose membership remains constant unless manually updated.
    • Dynamic segments automatically add or remove contacts based on predefined rules, ensuring their membership is always up-to-date with the latest data and behaviors.
  • 3️⃣
Set either "Perform event" or "Have attribute" as appropriate.
    Set attribute or event

    Have attribute

This condition filters based on attribute information possessed by customers or visitors (who the user is / what characteristics they have).

Examples: Customers "with a registered email address", Customers whose "membership rank" is "Gold".

    Perform event

This condition filters based on actions or interactions (Events) performed by customers or visitors.

Examples: Customers who "purchased 3 or more times in the last 30 days", Users who "added items to their cart" but did not purchase.

  • 4️⃣
After creating the segment, check the "Computation History."
Confirm that "Success" is displayed for "Computation status." Verify that the "Computation output (members)" shows the total number of people included in that segment, and ensure it matches your expected count.

3. Duplicate Data Registration

"Good intentions gone wrong" failure:

When manually uploading customer lists via CSV files, if you register data by only "adding new" without cross-referencing existing customer data, the same customer might be registered multiple times within the system. This can lead to problems such as the same customer receiving multiple emails or customer information becoming fragmented.

Why it's the #3 worst mistake:

Antsomi CDP 365 aims to integrate customer data from various sources to create a single customer view (360-degree customer view). Duplicate data registration hinders this single customer view and significantly degrades the accuracy of data analysis and personalization.

Prevention ①: Properly utilize the "Data" module for automatic data integration.

  • 👉
Leverage the "Data" module: The "Data" module in Antsomi CDP 365 manages the automation of data processing by connecting, transforming, processing, and sending data from diverse sources such as Google Sheets, Oracle, and Google Analytics to various destinations. This significantly reduces the effort and errors associated with manual data entry.
  • 👉
Regular automatic execution: For data integration from external sources like Google Spreadsheets, utilize "Batch streams" in the "Dataflows" section of the "Data" module. By configuring data to be automatically imported and updated periodically, you can eliminate the complexities of manual import tasks and ensure that your data is always up-to-date.

Prevention ②: When manually uploading data, ensure proper settings.

  • 1️⃣
    Select the appropriate "Import type":

When uploading offline customer lists, click the "Import" icon in the "Customers" section of the "Profiles" module.

    Import Icon

It is crucial to select "Add New and Update". This ensures that new customer data from the file is added, while existing customer data is updated, preventing duplicate registrations and maintaining the most current customer information.

    Add New and Update
  • 2️⃣
    Set "Matching fields"
During upload, accurately configure "Matching fields" to match attributes in your upload file with those in CDP 365. Specifically, the "Customer ID (customer_id)", such as a unique user ID or hashed email address, is a mandatory field. Proper mapping ensures data consistency and avoids duplicates.
